Review: The Billionaire Bad Boys Club by Emma Holly

Emma HollyTitle: The Billionaire Bad Boys Club
Author:  Emma Holly
Source: Bought/Nookbook

Self-made billionaires Zane and Trey have been a club of two since they were eighteen. They’ve done everything together: play football, fall in love, even get smacked around by their dads. The only thing they haven’t tried is seducing the same woman. Rebecca learned early on not to trust anyone. She raised her brothers by herself—with no adult being the wiser. Her knack for cooking kept a roof over the twins’ heads. Now she’s damned if it won’t pay their way through Harvard as well. Add in running Trey’s latest restaurant, and her plate is way too full for romance. That’s an attitude the bad boys intend to change. Zane and Trey have set their sights on the sexy chef. When their hearts enter the equation and they both fall for her, this committed twosome faces their hardest test of all! Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

My Review

Emma Holly did a great job on the creation of the "Bad Boys Club".  The owners were amazing each with their own difficulties to get past.  No man should be without flaws though sometimes I think Channing Tatum is.  Trey grew up being taught that sex was not something good Christian people did, while Zane has a problem letting people see the him that loves his partner in the business.

Then there is Rebecca, the girl who gave up he won life to raise he younger brothers at sixteen.  This is something that shocked me, though you do see things like this on Lifetime Movie Network where teenagers raise their younger siblings while avoiding the law that would put them in foster care.  I loved Rebecca, she is very head strong, and I like these female characters that have worked hard for everything they have got and do not want a man to come in an ruin it all.  Though Rebecca is very attracted to Trey to begin with because she wants to work at his new restaurant she does not want to get involved with him, harder than it looks for her and for him.  But Zane on the other hand who is a "silent" partner is a lot easier to get involved with but harder to trust.

But will this couple make it when you add into the mix a jealous on/off girlfriend of Zane's who does not like the fact that she has believed him to be proposing and instead he is sleeping with not only Rebecca but also Trey even though they have been going out and being seen with each other?  I will admit I love my romance/erotica to have a little bit of a twist, I do not like it to only be just about the romance.  I like to see some internal struggle as well as some outside conflict and Emma Holly has brought it full force with these two.

Q:  What is the last book that kept you up late into the night just to finish it?

Well the book is what kept me from posting this when Parajunkee.com posted the Feature and Follow, but I am currently really into The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd.  My goal is to finish it tonight or early tomorrow, but I was up until 4am reading it this morning.

Waiting on Wednesday #2

I have loved Meg Cabot since I was in Jr/HS and I read the Princess Diaries Series.  Though I will admit I watched the movie before I read the books, this was one of those series that got be back into reading.  So her writing always just pulls me int when I see her name as the author of the book.

Review: The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst

Title:  The Marriage Bargain
Author:  Jennifer Probst
Source:  E-book Copy won in Giveaway via author, but I also own 1 copy which you can still win until 1/24/13

A marriage in name only...
To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart.
Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he offers Alexa a bold proposition.
A marriage in name only with certain rules: avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right?
Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans…

Alexa needs the money to save her family home.
Nick needs a wife so that he can keep his uncle's company under the terms of the will.
So Maggie has the solution fro them both.

Maggie is Alexa's best friend, so when she comes to visit to find Alexa casting a love spell for the perfect man she sees the solution to both Alexa's money problem and Nick's wife needs.  The only thing these two have very different ideas of what the perfect spouse is.  Compromise becomes the thing between two of them, not that there is anything easy about this.  They are both set in their ways.  Alexa is independent and head strong, and that means doing things that will aggravate Nick.

Can these two reach the ultimate compromise and make their marriage work on more than paper, or will the lines of trust never be crossed?

I love this story and I really loved the antics of Alexa when Nick made her mad.  They made me laugh many times, bringing home all the dogs from the shelter and buying a tank full of fish to give is one fish company were just great (and something I would think about doing).  Then there is the chemistry between Nick and Alexa and it was HOT.

The list that these two have are great so I think we need to compare the two and see the differences.
Alexa's List (Go read the book for Maggies Opinions on Everything)
1.  A Mets Fan
2.  Loves Books arts and Poetry
3.  Believes in Monogamy
4.  Wants Children
5.  Knows how to Communicate with a woman
6.  Loves animals
7.  Has a Moral Code of Ethics and Believes in Honesty
8.  A Good Lover
9.  Has a Strong Sense of Family
10.  Needs $150,000 available cash

Nick's List
1.  A woman who does not love me
2.  A woman I do not desire to Sleep with
3.  A woman who does not have a big family
4.  A woman who does not have any animals
5.  A woman who does not want any children
6.  A woman who has an independent career
7.  A woman who will view the relationship as a business venture
8.  A woman who is not overly emotional or impulsive
9.  A woman I can trust

Just looking at the two separate lists you know these two together are going to be great.

So I want to say that this book needs to go on many romance lovers MUST READ list if they have not already read it.

Model Spy (The Specialists, #1)
MY REVIEW:

I am going to start this review by saying that this book had been on my paperback swap wish list for over one year, and now that it is available as an eBook I could not be happier, and I was not disappointed in the book.

Kelly James is in trouble with the law, when she gets taken in by The Specialists, all because of a boy.  The first guy who had ever had in interest in the freaky genius   So when he asked her to find information on his dad in the government file she did try to find the information.  Now to stay out of jail Thomas Liba "TL" the leader of The Specialists program offers her the chance to disappear and become Kelly Spree.  Accepting the terms with no where else to go, no living family, Kelly joins "The Specialists".

Upon arriving at her new home and being introduced to her now "family", she finds that David had set her up to get in trouble, and he is also a member of The Specialists, and she was his first assignment.  Now known as the resident Genius Girl, GiGi is on her own first assignment with David.  The sparks are flying, at least on her side, it seems that David has no interest in her as more than what could be assumed a "little sister."

The there is the mystery of the whole book, where is David's dad really since he is not dead like the rest of The Specialist's parents are, he was just raised by TL and grew up learning everything of The Specialist program.  So when they have a lock on where David's dad is possibly being held, they need GiGi's hacking skills since the government files she was hacking into were designed by David's dad.  Will they find David's dad in time or will they lose their chance forever?

Now I will admit I am really looking forward to getting my hands on copies of Down to the Wire, Native Tongue and Fight to the Finish (I already have The Winning Element) and seeing how the relationship between GiGi and David plays out but I am also looking forward to getting to know GiGi's new family/friends.

Greenland did a good job of giving a diversity to the group that makes up The Specialists and  making them alike in the little way that the only family they have is this one they are building together.  Kelly (GiGi) is a computer genius with an IQ of over 190, Molly (Bruiser) who is a Martial Arts Specialists who was running an underground fighting ring, Darren (Parrot) is an linguistics expert who can speak 16 different languages, Joe (Mystic) who is clairvoyant and sees objects beyond natural vision (I can not wait to see what he can do later on), Priscilla (Beaker) who can mix chemicals together, and Frankie (Wirenut) who is good with alarm and security systems.  These characters look like they will be great on their own as well as a team and the times you see them all interacting is great.

I really enjoyed this book, though I know there are plenty of spy teen books out there now, this is one that I wanted to read, maybe it was the pink cover or maybe it was that no matter how hard I looked I could not find a copy.

Q:  Who is your favorite villain from a book?

Never really have thought about this question before, I never read for the Villain in the book.  Though when I was reading Harry Potter I loved Draco and Snape, but I do not read just for the Villian.  So personally I do not know who I would chose today as my favorite.

Giveaway: Romance at Random's #ROFLOL

Certain to appeal to fans of Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Crusie, and Katie MacAlister, Elise Sax’s hilarious series debut introduces matchmaker-in-training Gladie Burger, who stumbles into a dangerous quagmire of murder and red-hot romance.
Three months has been Gladie Burger’s limit when it comes to staying in one place: She’s always been a temp agency kind of girl, ever ready to move on. That’s why Gladie is more than a little skeptical when her eccentric Grandma Zelda recruits her to the family business in the quaint small town of Cannes, California. Gladie is also highly unqualified: Her beloved grandmother’s business is matchmaking, and Gladie has a terrible track record with romance. Still, despite evidence to the contrary, Zelda is convinced that her granddaughter has “the gift.” But when the going gets tough, Gladie wonders if this gift has a return policy.
When Zelda’s neighbor drops dead in his kitchen, Gladie is swept into his bizarre family’s drama. Despite warnings from the (distractingly gorgeous) chief of police to steer clear of his investigation, Gladie is out to prove that her neighbor’s death was murder. It’s not too long before she’s in way over her head—with the hunky police chief, a dysfunctional family full of possible killers, and yet another mysterious and handsome man, whose attentions she’s unable to ignore. Gladie is clearly being pursued—either by true love or by a murderer. Who will catch her first?

REVIEW: The Billionaire's Pregnant Mistress by Lucy Monroe

The Billionaire's Pregnant Mistress
MY REVIEW:

Its the classic love story:
Girl lives in sin with boy
Girl gets pregnant by boy
Girl realizes she loves boy
Boy leaves girl to marry acceptable girl
Girl disappears
Boy regrets decision.

When Xandra Fortune finds out that she is pregnant and the father of the baby went and got engaged to what he claims to be the "right sort" of girl, she decides it is time to go back to being Alexandra Dupree and go home to her mother, who believes she is ruining the family, and her sister.

Living the life of "Xandra Fortune" had been great when she could be a fashion model in France but with a child on the way and being a single parent there would be no way to continue her lifestyle.  Plus her family, who she got the job for to begin with did not need her assistance as much.

By the time that Dimitri realized the mistake he had made, "Xandra" was gone from the apartment he had removed her from and from the city.  The only thing Private Detectives could find on "Xandra Fortune" was that she had her belongings shipped to New York.

When they end up at the same party in New York will the sparks fly or will the fact that Alexandra believes Dimitri to be married and can not trust him keep them apart.

Mostly this is like all Harlequin Romance stories and something I love.  A first time together, something that tears them apart and then a happily ever after.  Not to say that they are all the same, that little bit of info that they will get back together is something to make you pull through that hate that they may or may not feel toward each other.  And I love them for those moments where they do not get along.  Lucy Monroe did a good job on this short and sweet Harlequin getting me interested.  There is constantly a question to find the answer too:  Did he get married?  What did he promise his Grandfather?

Movie Review: The Decoy Bride

David TennantThe Decoy Bride is another movie which came up on my Netflix watching list (it may have something to do with my Doctor Who watching Marathon back this summer).

This movie stars David Tennant and Kelly Macdonald as Katie and James.  After James's wedding to Lara (Alice Eve) is postponed because a photographer that is obsessed with getting pictures of the weddings get inside the church before the wedding.  So when at the remote location of the new wedding is found by said photographer, Lara disappears leaving them without a bride and a photographer camped outside of the chapel to fool that the wedding actually happened so that hopefully a real wedding can happen without mishap.  To do this they need a decoy bride and this is where Katie comes.

The Decoy Bride was great, I love David Tennant so when I saw he was starring in this movie I knew I was going to end up seeing it and it did not leave me disappointed.  Though this movie did not make that big of an impression when first released, I have fallen in love with the movie in the short time it took to watch it.

REVIEW: Glass Houses by Rachel Caine

Title: Glass Houses
Author: Rachel Caine
Source: Library book

From the author of the popular Weather Warden series comes the debut of an exciting new series set in Morganville, Texas, where you would be well advised to avoid being out after dark.

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life, but they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood.

MY REVIEW:

Claire is a 16 year old college student, something that is already not easy, but when she makes the mistake of correcting the wrong person being the youngest persons campus has become HELL, and also dangerous.  Seeking safety from the dorms Claire ends up at the home of Michael Glass and his renters, Shane and Eve, where she starts to learn the truth of what is going on in Morganville.  From the vampire's who run the town to the payments (taxes) that each resident, even the unknowing students at the university pay.

In a town where you are protected or not, Claire is trying to protect the ones who took her in when she needed it.

Like in all books, though the hero/heroine stand out in your minds, there is sometimes that friend that you just love and Eve in this book is that character, her Gothic clothing as a way to stick it to the man, or in this case the undead.  She has this need to not be controlled by the vampires in the town, working for who she thinks is a normal human at a coffee shop who has some sort of power over the vampires to protect the humans.  Even though Eve does not like the Vampires in this town with their rules and "protection" she knows that sometimes to save herself and her friends she needs to accept the rules and the protection that is offered even if really she just wants to be free to do as she completely pleases.

The book was a great opening to the series, showing the make of the town while still leaving you with places and people to see in later books.  With a little romance mixed in with the mystery of the town, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat while you wait for the moment that each character admits to their feelings.

Movie Review: A Warrior's Heart

A Warrior's Heart came up on my watch list on my Netflix account and I will admit that I was iffy on watching it mostly because it is a sports movie, something that I sometimes enjoy (Remember the Titans) but I do not always come to like them all.

Now I will go ahead and say early on this movie starts two Twilight Stars, not just one.  We have Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, two of my favorite actors in the Twilight Series.  Ashley Greene stars as Brooklyn the daughter of the Lacrosse coach at Conor Sullivan's new school he has transferred too.  Conor has a problem sharing the spotlight in a "team" sport and likes to be the one leading the plays.  But when his father is killed in action Conor takes to destruction to school property, getting himself arrested.

Taken to tear down a old building by one of his fathers old military buddies for his transgressions and to help him clean up his act, he ends up on the native reservation in their version of Juvenile Detention.  This is where Conor learns the true meaning of Lacrosse and the fact that it is the sport of a true warrior where the Native Americans are concerned.

This movie was great and it has some great moments by Lutz and Greene.  But lets not forget about the other actors who you see in this movie.  Chord Overstreet who you may know as "Trouty Mouth" on Glee is one of the Lacrosse players on Conor's team.  Gabrielle Anwar from Burn Notice plays Conor's mom.

A natural dominant, he's not looking for a permanent submissive in his life. But perhaps he'll make an exception for the stunning lawyer from London.

When Club Submission is plunged into a high-profile murder investigation, its very existence is put in jeopardy.

Can Emma unlock the truth, or will the devastatingly handsome Zane Anders, a Master of Submission, unlock her deepest sexual desires, instead?
MY REVIEW :
For straight-laced English woman Emma, Club Submission is really the last place she would have ever went but it might just have led her on the adventure of a lifetime while looking for her best Chloe.  With just e-mails exchanged with one "Orion" Emma is lost in the last place she knew Chloe to have gone.
Master Zane Anders was easily drawn to the blonde that looked as if she had never been into a BDSM club before, and knew that breaking her into the scene would be something he would thoroughly enjoy doing.  And when she follows him home he is even more shocked but mostly because he thinks she is a reporter trying to get a story on the club and its members not that she is looking for her missing friend who she just "knows" something has happened too.  Next thing he knows is he is being questioned about his relationship to member "Giselle" who is actually Emma's friend Chloe.
Can the mystery of Chloe Watts be solved before the Strong brothers have to close Club Submission for good since the police think the club has everything to do with the disappearance.
Personally I have fallen in love with this series with just the first book and I have instantly added the other books to my Kindle Wish List.  But I have a feeling I will be buying them before I get them gifted to me.  I am looking forward to reading the next books in the series as well as other books by Jan Bowles that I own or put on my wish list
