Review: Model Spy by Shannon Greenland

Title: Model Spy (The Specialists #1)
Author:  Shannon Greenland
Source:  Nook Book

Teen genius Kelly James is in a lot of hot water. A whiz with computers, she agreed to help her college RA, David, uncover some top-secret information. After all, she doesn't have many friends and David has always been nice to her. It doesn't hurt that he's supercute and irresistible, too. All she has to do is hack into the government's main computer system. But a few hours later, her whole life changes. She is caught and taken in for questioning, only this isn't your run-of-the-mill arrest. Rather than serve a juvenile detention sentence, she accepts the option to change her name and enlist in a secret government spy agency that trains teen agents to go undercover. As if that wasn't overwhelming enough, she discovers that David works for this agency as well! And before she even begins to understand what is going on, she's sent on her first mission as an undercover model. And who better to partner with than David himself!

Model Spy (The Specialists, #1)
MY REVIEW:

I am going to start this review by saying that this book had been on my paperback swap wish list for over one year, and now that it is available as an eBook I could not be happier, and I was not disappointed in the book.

Kelly James is in trouble with the law, when she gets taken in by The Specialists, all because of a boy.  The first guy who had ever had in interest in the freaky genius   So when he asked her to find information on his dad in the government file she did try to find the information.  Now to stay out of jail Thomas Liba "TL" the leader of The Specialists program offers her the chance to disappear and become Kelly Spree.  Accepting the terms with no where else to go, no living family, Kelly joins "The Specialists".

Upon arriving at her new home and being introduced to her now "family", she finds that David had set her up to get in trouble, and he is also a member of The Specialists, and she was his first assignment.  Now known as the resident Genius Girl, GiGi is on her own first assignment with David.  The sparks are flying, at least on her side, it seems that David has no interest in her as more than what could be assumed a "little sister."

The there is the mystery of the whole book, where is David's dad really since he is not dead like the rest of The Specialist's parents are, he was just raised by TL and grew up learning everything of The Specialist program.  So when they have a lock on where David's dad is possibly being held, they need GiGi's hacking skills since the government files she was hacking into were designed by David's dad.  Will they find David's dad in time or will they lose their chance forever?

Now I will admit I am really looking forward to getting my hands on copies of Down to the Wire, Native Tongue and Fight to the Finish (I already have The Winning Element) and seeing how the relationship between GiGi and David plays out but I am also looking forward to getting to know GiGi's new family/friends.

Greenland did a good job of giving a diversity to the group that makes up The Specialists and  making them alike in the little way that the only family they have is this one they are building together.  Kelly (GiGi) is a computer genius with an IQ of over 190, Molly (Bruiser) who is a Martial Arts Specialists who was running an underground fighting ring, Darren (Parrot) is an linguistics expert who can speak 16 different languages, Joe (Mystic) who is clairvoyant and sees objects beyond natural vision (I can not wait to see what he can do later on), Priscilla (Beaker) who can mix chemicals together, and Frankie (Wirenut) who is good with alarm and security systems.  These characters look like they will be great on their own as well as a team and the times you see them all interacting is great.

I really enjoyed this book, though I know there are plenty of spy teen books out there now, this is one that I wanted to read, maybe it was the pink cover or maybe it was that no matter how hard I looked I could not find a copy.

Movie Review: A Warrior's Heart

A Warrior's Heart came up on my watch list on my Netflix account and I will admit that I was iffy on watching it mostly because it is a sports movie, something that I sometimes enjoy (Remember the Titans) but I do not always come to like them all.

Now I will go ahead and say early on this movie starts two Twilight Stars, not just one.  We have Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, two of my favorite actors in the Twilight Series.  Ashley Greene stars as Brooklyn the daughter of the Lacrosse coach at Conor Sullivan's new school he has transferred too.  Conor has a problem sharing the spotlight in a "team" sport and likes to be the one leading the plays.  But when his father is killed in action Conor takes to destruction to school property, getting himself arrested.

Taken to tear down a old building by one of his fathers old military buddies for his transgressions and to help him clean up his act, he ends up on the native reservation in their version of Juvenile Detention.  This is where Conor learns the true meaning of Lacrosse and the fact that it is the sport of a true warrior where the Native Americans are concerned.

This movie was great and it has some great moments by Lutz and Greene.  But lets not forget about the other actors who you see in this movie.  Chord Overstreet who you may know as "Trouty Mouth" on Glee is one of the Lacrosse players on Conor's team.  Gabrielle Anwar from Burn Notice plays Conor's mom.

Review: Master of Submission by Jan Bowles

Title: Maser of Submission
Author: Jan Bowles
Source: Amazon.com Kindle
Thirty-year-old English lawyer Emma Parkes believes Club Submission holds the key to her best friend's disappearance. Well out of her comfort zone, Emma's eyes are opened wide when she observes the Masters of Submission at work. They're so confident and sexually arousing—especially beautiful blue-eyed Master Zane.

Submission member and Dom Zane Anders frequently enjoys all the club has to offer. The wealthy, forty-year-old diamond importer has everything he could possibly need—everything except for love. A natural dominant, he's not looking for a permanent submissive in his life. But perhaps he'll make an exception for the stunning lawyer from London.

When Club Submission is plunged into a high-profile murder investigation, its very existence is put in jeopardy.

Can Emma unlock the truth, or will the devastatingly handsome Zane Anders, a Master of Submission, unlock her deepest sexual desires, instead?
MY REVIEW :
For straight-laced English woman Emma, Club Submission is really the last place she would have ever went but it might just have led her on the adventure of a lifetime while looking for her best Chloe.  With just e-mails exchanged with one "Orion" Emma is lost in the last place she knew Chloe to have gone.
Master Zane Anders was easily drawn to the blonde that looked as if she had never been into a BDSM club before, and knew that breaking her into the scene would be something he would thoroughly enjoy doing.  And when she follows him home he is even more shocked but mostly because he thinks she is a reporter trying to get a story on the club and its members not that she is looking for her missing friend who she just "knows" something has happened too.  Next thing he knows is he is being questioned about his relationship to member "Giselle" who is actually Emma's friend Chloe.
Can the mystery of Chloe Watts be solved before the Strong brothers have to close Club Submission for good since the police think the club has everything to do with the disappearance.
Personally I have fallen in love with this series with just the first book and I have instantly added the other books to my Kindle Wish List.  But I have a feeling I will be buying them before I get them gifted to me.  I am looking forward to reading the next books in the series as well as other books by Jan Bowles that I own or put on my wish list
